Trekking Equipments

Trekking equipment is very important to safely and comfortable complete a trekking adventure. The following equipments lists are recommended and necessary for both camping & teahouse treks in the Himalayas. Please make use of this list as a guideline for what to bring on your trip. Most trekking equipment can be bought in one of the many adventure shops in Kathmandu, the majority of gear is locally manufactured (hence a lot cheaper) although it is becoming more common for gear to be imported from China and therefore of better quality.

List of Trekking Equipments & Personal Necessary Gear
The following basic equipments check lists will help you with your packing and preparation for your trip. Please remember that you should always try to keep the weight of your equipment to a minimum. At the start of the trek your packed bag should not weight more then 15 to 17kg.

  2. Fleece Wind-Stopper Jacket (Optional)
  3. Down Vest and or Jacket (Optional)
  4. Waterproof (If Possible Breathable Fabric) Shell Jacket
  5. Lightweight Gloves
  6. Heavyweight Gloves or Mittens with Waterproof Shell Outer
  7. Scarf
  8. Sun Hat
  9. Light Balaclava or Warm fleece Hat
  10. Sunglasses with UV Protection
  11. Rain Poncho (During the Summer)
  12. T-shirts-(3)
  13. Under Wear(4-5)
  14. Hiking Shorts(2)
  15. Lightweight Cotton Long Pants
  16. Light & Expedition Weight Thermal Bottoms
  17. Fleece or Wool Pants
  18. Waterproof (If Possible Breathable Fabric) Shell Pants
  19. Thin, lightweight Inner Socks(5)
  20. Thick, Warm Wool Hiking Socks(5)
  21. Hiking Boots with Extra Laces
  22. Gaiters
  23. Camp Shoes (Slippers and /or Sandals)
  24. Sun Cream, Lip balm etc
  25. Flashlight( With Extra Batteries)
  26. Rucksack
  27. Sleeping Bag Rated to Zero degrees Celsius
  28. Small Pad or Combination Lock- to- Lock Trek Bag
  29. Basic first Aid Kit
  30. Large Plastic Bags-for Keeping Items Dry Inside Trek Bag
  31. Daypack (Approximately 2500 to 3000 Cubic Inches)
  32. Thermarest Sleeping Pad
  33. Water Bottles
  34. Toiletries (Toothbrush, Toothpaste, Deodorant, Soap, Toilet Towel and Bath Towel etc)
